BISHOP CLIVE A PORTER SR. |
Pastor, Civic Leader, Author, Conference Speaker and Counselor - Bishop Clive A. Porter was born in Hanover, Jamaica, W. I. He is a graduate of Bethel Bible College located in Jamaica, West Indies. In July of 2006, he received his Doctorate of Divinity Degree from the International Theological Seminary in Chatsworth, California. Bishop Porter began fulfilling his call to the ministry in 1977. He pastored a total of six different Churches in Jamaica before migrating to the United States. In 1990 he founded the Ebenezer New Testament Church of God in St. Petersburg, Florida where he served as Pastor for 12 years.
In July 2002, Bishop Porter assumed his present pastorate at The Greater Fort Lauderdale New Testament Church of God in Fort Lauderdale; where his ministry continues to strive as is reflected in the numberical growth and spiritual maturity of the church. Bishop Porter believes in Preaching the Gospel Until All Have Heard. His aim is to have a multi-cultural Church. His motto is "Interacting For Fellowship - Mixing To Become One."
Bishop Clive A. Porter, Sr. is also the founder and President of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Bible Institute and Community College through which he strives to assist ministers, church workers and members in the fulfillment of their God-given call, talents and vision. He is also the founder and president of Clive Porter Ministries, through which he pioneers and directs such ministries as "Men of Vision" - a program geared to developing men within the church to the realization of their God assigned role as leaders in the home, church and community; and WUSSH - "Women United for the Salvation of Sons and Husband." Bishop Porter currently serves as the District Overseer for the Broward East District of Churches of God and as an elected member of the State Executive Counsel of Bishops for the Church of God Cocoa, Florida State Office.
Bishop Porter is a sought after conference speaker. Some of his conference topics include Living Single with Spiritual Success and Marriage & Relationship through respect, cooperation and support. He also maintains an extensive schedule of counseling sessions, seminars and speaking engagements in the Caribbean, United Kingdom, Africa and across the United States. His counseling sessions tackle the most common problems facing families and provide them with practical advice. He aims to "Build Strong Churches by Strengthening Weak Families."
Bishop Porter is recognized for his dynamic preaching and leadership style, his humility and his love for his congregation. In addition to his ministry accomplishments, Bishop Porter served as a counselor with Family Resources, working with troubled teens and their parents; as Vice President of the St. Petersburg International Folk Fair Society (SPIFFS) and as Board Chairman of Pauline Salmon Preparatory School.
He is married to First Lady, Sharon Porter and has three children, Daniel, Clive Jr. and Shantonee.
